Jamilla Hawkins

Program Officer

Jamilla Hawkins’ career has spanned state government, nonprofits, and philanthropy. Most recently she served as Chief of Staff of the North Carolina Pandemic Recovery Office where she managed the reporting, communications, and outreach functions of the office. Before that, she worked at the NC Rural Center to strengthen food systems state-wide by promoting and providing resources to food business entrepreneurs, local farmers, and community leaders. 

In addition to her work, Jamilla serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, a Commissioner of the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, and a board member of the Wake County Community Foundation. 

She grew up in Riegelwood, NC, and attended Columbus County Schools. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UNC Greensboro and a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University.
