A New Home for the Nonprofit Internship Program North Carolina Network of Grantmakers Will Lead NPIP

Announcements, News

The 2024 Nonprofit Internship Program participants gathered in Greensboro on July 22, 2024, to wrap up their summer experience.

---

Over the past few months, 40 exceptional college students dedicated their summers to working with North Carolina nonprofits to drive positive change across the state. They tackled issues ranging from public education to conservation and gained experience in research, digital communications, public policy and more.

These opportunities were made possible through the 2024 Nonprofit Internship Program, or NPIP.

We are thrilled to announce that after 13 years of ZSR leading NPIP, the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers (NCNG) will manage the program moving forward.

Launched in 2011 and now supported by seven NC funders, NPIP pairs college students with NC nonprofits for paid summer internships.  The program serves Pell grant-eligible students for whom unpaid summer internships are not feasible, which, because of the racial wealth gap in the US, disproportionately affects students of color.

NPIP aims to expand paid opportunities for students to explore the nonprofit field and diversify the pool of young nonprofit professionals in NC over time.
